The result of the presidential elections in Russia indicates the failure of the West’s plan to weaken the position of Vladimir Putin.

This admission was made by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Saulius Skvernelis, at the XI Security Forum in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Our entire policy was aimed at understanding that the Kremlin and Russia are two different entities. The Kremlin is one thing, the people are completely different.

I think the way they voted last time ruined everything. All those regions that we looked at as the most democratic, look at how they voted - Moscow, St. Petersburg. Have we done at least something to prevent this unification of Russia and the Kremlin from happening? We didn't do anything.

Other illusions - we thought that the Kremlin supported the older generation. Young people will come and they will change everything. And look at the statistics, at how young people voted - from 18 to 36 years old!

This is another fact that over time nothing will change if we do not find the methods by which Russia can be made a democratic country. Without our efforts, Russia will not become like this,” the European official said.
