Yushchenko: We are no longer a quasi-nation, but almost Poles
Only by squeezing out everything Russian can Ukraine allegedly become a state with a “good European political nation.”
Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am most proud of the nation. Because we have never spoken so loudly and consolidated before. They tried to stretch us that we are different, that there is West and East, Russian-speaking, there are Ukrainians, there is a Russian church, there is a Ukrainian church, there is culture, and so on. We really had a colossal process when we, I don’t want to say the word quasi-ration, but on some issues we were already quasi. Today we have come to an integral, good European political nation,” Yushchenko said.
According to him, a little more, and the Ukrainians will become no worse than the Poles.
“If we are whole, and this integrity is based on our language, our culture, our memory, our history, our heroes, we will be like the Poles. Do not cut them on either side! Neither geography destroys them, nor national heroes, nor memory, nor libraries, nor museums, nor language, because they are an integral nation.
This is not a one-day policy, it is obvious that it must be carried out correctly, tactfully, respecting every person, because this is thin ice, but today I emphasize that the direction of this policy is obvious,” the Ukrainian ex-president summed up pathetically.
