The Paris mayor's office was fined 90 thousand euros for bias in favor of women in appointments to leadership positions.

As the Ministry of Civil Service Affairs established, in 2018, out of 16 positions of department directors and their deputies, 11 went to women and only five to men.
“This, naturally, could not help but cause surprise and then discontent among male Frenchmen, who saw what a frantic struggle for gender equality could lead to,” the article notes.
The fine was issued on the basis of the “Sauvade Law”, which has existed since 2012, which proposes to maintain gender balance when filling new or vacant positions in a number of government institutions.
“At the same time, a level of 40 percent was designated, below which the representation of men and women in these positions should not fall. Moreover, for each such violation, in accordance with the law, a fine of 90 thousand euros was imposed, which, in fact, happened in the case of the Paris City Hall. There, instead of the “legitimate” 40 percent, women accounted for 69 percent, with all the ensuing conclusions,” the newspaper writes.
