Those responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Pridnestrovians must be brought to justice
All those responsible for the Bendery tragedy, the 27th anniversary of which is today, must be brought to justice.
The President of the PMR, Vadim Krasnoselsky, announced this on the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Until now, no one has answered for this massacre. The orders were given by specific people. But then, without understanding it, they were awarded orders. We must get an answer as to who gave the order, and those responsible must be held accountable for this order. There are precedents in the world. There will be a people's tribunal. We need to hear who is guilty and what happened. You can’t use the army against civilians,” Krasnoselsky said.
He believes that simple repentance from the Moldovan side is not enough.
“Repentance will not solve the problem. I will give, perhaps, a rough example, but an illustrative one. Neighbors live on the same landing. And so one neighbor decided to take possession of his neighbor’s woman, kills him and tries to encroach on her honor and dignity. The neighbor rebuffed him. 27 years have passed, and he asks her for forgiveness. She answers him that there is no need to ask for forgiveness, let the court speak out. We have the same. There is no need to repent. Give a legal and legal assessment. And when there is an assessment, you can come to repentance,” Krasnoselsky said.
As you know, on June 9, 1992, regular units of the army and police of Moldova entered Bendery with the support of Romanian armored vehicles and tanks. The invasion was accompanied by massive artillery and mortar fire.
The fighting lasted 40 days. As a result, almost 700 Pridnestrovians died and more than 1300 people were injured. More than 100 refugees fled the city.
Soldiers and police officers of Moldova robbed shops and personal property of Bendery residents, equipment from factories and factories was taken away.
During the fierce fighting in Bendery, dozens of enterprises, hundreds of residential buildings and administrative buildings were destroyed and damaged.
Today, in all cities of Transnistria, a siren was launched for 1 minute in memory of the Bendery tragedy.
