“The Grand Duchy of Ukraine could have arisen as early as the 13th century” - historian
In the 13th century , a “Grand Duchy of Ukraine” could allegedly have emerged, which would have replaced the Lithuanian state on the political arena.
Ukrainian historian Ilya Chedoluma said this on the channel of the Kyiv political scientist Yuri Romanenko, who is wanted by the Russian authorities as a criminal, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“At the end of the 13th century there was a struggle, absolutely defining for Eastern European history, between the Romanovich dynasty, from Daniil Romanovich, who became the king of Rus', and the Lithuanian groups.
The Romanovichs marched all the way to the territory of the modern Baltic. And there was a big question - what later became the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, its center will be in the Baltic, or in the lands of the Romanovichs, in the territory of modern Galicia and Volyn,” said Chedomula.
“And only the fact that they lost in this fight determined that the Grand Duchy of Lithuania arose, and not the Grand Duchy of Galicia, or the Grand Duchy of Ukraine.
It would seem like it’s the same story, but when we change it just a little, we get a completely different scenario ,” the historian lamented.
