Leading German parties do not want to impose sanctions against Russia
Kyiv - Berlin, March 04 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - The two leading parties in Germany - the Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats, who make up the large ruling coalition - are skeptical about the possibility of introducing sanctions against Russia, Deutsche Welle reports.

“Loud calls” for sanctions are no substitute for politics, SPD foreign policy expert Niels Annen said in an interview with Handelsblatt Online on March 4. According to him, Berlin has no doubt that Russia is violating international law, but “we must not forget about the economy.” The Social Democrat recalled that Germany is much more closely connected economically with Russia than the United States, “so it is easier for Washington to threaten Moscow with sanctions.”
“The termination of existing gas supply agreements between Germany and Russia will cause widespread damage to the economic interests of our country,” said CDU foreign policy expert Philipp Miesfelder.
