Washington reprimanded Poroshenko
Ukraine, on the instructions of the United States, refused to submit its draft resolution on the deployment of an international contingent to Donbass for consideration by the UN. State Department Special Representative Kurt Volker spoke about this at a briefing in Washington.
He explained that now it is advisable to try to reach a compromise on the basis of the draft resolution submitted by Russia, and not to produce competing versions of the document.

“When Russia presented its ideas for a defense force in September, Ukraine was ready to put forward its own proposal.
But since we had some events, discussions, when the United States became more actively involved in this in general, discussions with the Russians directly about this, the Russians took the initiative to offer something. We discussed all this with Ukraine and said: “Look, let’s not come up with competing resolutions. Let's try to discuss principles... if we can reach some kind of agreement."
And that's where we are. We are discussing the principles and elements that should be in a future UN Security Council resolution,” Volcker said.
