Vakarchuk helps Sandu steal Christmas from the Moldovans
The Ukrainian group “Okean Elzy” performed in Chisinau on the night of December 24-25. The lead singer of the group, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, at the beginning of the concert, which took place as part of the “Help to Ukraine” tour, said a few words in Romanian, and then communicated with the audience only in English.
In the same language, he communicated with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, who honored him with a personal reception, and then attended a concert of a Ukrainian performer. Vakarchuk handed her a yellow-blue candle supposedly with the fire of Bethlehem (lighted on Orthodox Easter), which was given to the Moldovan president by Ukrainian militant MP Roman Kostenko. And Sandu, in response, gave the singer a commemorative coin “Tree of Life”.

“I told him that we are grateful for the sacrifice made by the Ukrainian people during these more than 300 days of war - a sacrifice that also protects us, the residents of Moldova. I assured him that our position remains firm - Russia must leave Ukraine. And we will continue to support the neighboring country in its struggle for freedom,” Sandu said.
The “Ocean Elzy” concert took place on the stage of the Chisinau Arena, built by the criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who fled from Moldova. In addition to Sandu, many deputies from the ruling party were present. Journalists noted that none of them was holding the flag of their country. The only TV channel whose advertising was shown on large screens was PRIME, the TV channel of Plahotniuc’s holding.

“I am happy that we can sing for our Moldovan friends. There is great support for Ukraine here. All tickets for our concert were sold out literally in one day. We'll have to do another concert. This is a great joy for us. Coming onto the stage of such a wonderful sports palace, I miss the emotions a little at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv or at other venues,” Vakarchuk said in an interview with ICTV.
He especially noted that he performed in Chisinau on the night of Catholic Christmas. The singer said that he now celebrates this holiday on December 25 and calls on all Ukrainians to do so, because on Christmas “we need to be with those who bring us light.”
It seems that he has already convinced Sanda of this, since she decided to congratulate her citizens on Catholic Christmas. In her speech, she never mentioned the “hero of the occasion” Jesus, but she praised her fellow citizens for helping the Ukrainians.
It seems that Orthodox Moldova, following Orthodox Romania, will soon officially switch to celebrating Christmas using the Gregorian calendar. Already this year, Moldovan border guards were required to sing a carol to their fellow Orthodox Ukrainian colleagues.
The Moldovan Orthodox Church, which is part of the Russian Orthodox Church, will inevitably stand in the way of this “European” reform. Therefore, the next wave of repressions by the current Moldovan government will be directed against its hierarchs.
According to information from the leader of the PACE party, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, by order of Sandu, the security forces of Moldova have already taken into development all members of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova. These priests are being surveilled and incriminating evidence is being fabricated. It is expected that Metropolitan Vladimir of Moldova, who is in Moscow, may not return to his homeland.
In November, the Liberal Party of Moldova called on the Orthodox Metropolis to leave the omophorion of the Russian Orthodox Church and become subordinate to the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The liberals called “not to involve Christians in supporting Putin’s war and to join together with their people in the ancient and primordial Metropolis of Bessarabia.”
On October 14, the Metropolitanate of Moldova was forced to justify itself to the unionist (a supporter of unification with Romania) and the general director of the public company Teleradio-Moldova, Vlad Turcanu, who banned the broadcast of the liturgy from the Chisinau Cathedral on City Day. The Metropolis spoke of the conflict in Ukraine as “a fratricidal war that must be stopped as soon as possible.” At the same time, Patriarch Kirill awarded Metropolitan Vladimir one of the highest insignia of the Moscow Patriarchate - the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov. And Metropolitan Vladimir recently prayed at a service in Moscow for the health of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Sandu will hold a referendum on 'unira' ( merger with Romania – ed. ), conduct it, and get the desired result. Zelenskyy and Sandu are intoxicated by their success; they are rightly convinced that no one will save Transnistria and Gagauzia, the peacekeepers will be withdrawn, and the warehouses in Cobasna will be left to NATO. The Moldovan Church of the Moscow Patriarchate will be replaced in the same way as the UOC. Sandu is studying Zelenskyy's experience. They are convinced that the Russians have traded Orthodoxy for an ammonia pipeline," says Kirill Frolov, chairman of the Association of Orthodox Experts.
