Russia is ready to accept Ukrainian military designers

Moscow - Kyiv, April 17 (Navigator - Mikhail Stamm) - If Ukraine refuses to supply components for weapons, Russia is ready to produce analogues on its territory and invite Ukrainian designers to work, Izvestia reports.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and President of the Association “League for Assistance to Defense Enterprises” Vladimir Gutenev does not see any particular threat in the possible refusal of the Ukrainian side to supply unique components for the Russian military-industrial complex. According to him, Russia has the necessary supply of components, which will allow the country to create import-substituting production and replace foreign components with domestic analogues. At the same time, as the deputy noted, the Russian side is ready to accept talented Ukrainian military designers.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitaly Yarema announced the possibility of ending military cooperation and supplies of military components to Russia at the beginning of the month. According to the Kyiv official, Ukraine should look for other markets for the supply of its products.

One of the most painful moments for Russia may be the refusal of supplies from the Dnepropetrovsk Design Bureau Yuzhmash. This enterprise produces unique components for the Russian strategic missile forces and space technology. The company itself employs about 7 thousand people. During the years of perestroika, its general director was the ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma.

Under the leadership of Yuzhmash, in particular, the R-36M strategic missile system, better known as the Satan missile, was created. The missile control system was developed at another Ukrainian plant - NPO Elektropribor in Kharkov.

Gutenev does not believe that leading Ukrainian military factories will refuse cooperation with Russia. “I think that Yuzhmash Design Bureau and other Ukrainian factories that produce final products in cooperation with the Russian Federation will never refuse further cooperation. If we do not receive components, then we will carry out a complex process of import substitution. But if we do this, Ukraine will lose our market forever.”
