Ukraine had to postpone the announced counter-offensive due to the fact that the West did not comply with the deadlines it had announced for the supply of weapons and ammunition.
This was stated on air by Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, Sergei Rakhmanin, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
“The offensive is being postponed - the president, and not only the president, spoke about this, due to a certain lag behind the schedule for the supply of weapons, in particular heavy armored ones. That is, tanks, infantry vehicles and armored personnel carriers. They are trying to level out the situation, but there are both objective and subjective difficulties,” the deputy said.
“The objective ones are that means of destruction and weapons need to be brought to Ukraine in such a way as to secure it as much as possible, and the subjective ones, unfortunately, are not new - our partners, when they took on obligations, they slightly overestimated their strength, because a certain number weapon systems and, first of all, this concerns tanks, in particular Leopard-2 tanks of various modifications, their technical condition does not meet the requirements and standards that, in principle, apply to armored vehicles used on the battlefield.
Therefore, they need restoration and repairs - sometimes current, sometimes, unfortunately, major ones, which is why deliveries, in particular of tanks, are not happening as quickly as they should be. And the same applies, unfortunately, to the supply of ammunition.
Moreover, Soviet-style ammunition, because stocks of this ammunition have decreased all over the world, and, unfortunately, 155-mm shells too - this is the NATO standard, on which a certain number of artillery systems operate, including self-propelled ones, which are used by the Armed Forces ", said Rakhmanin.
