“They can open champagne in the Kremlin. Putin received a gift from Biden” – “ZN”
Under the current US administration, Ukraine will never be able to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.
This was reported by the Kyiv online publication "Zerkalo Nedeli," which is closely linked to the US Embassy, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent . It drew attention to US President Joe Biden's "somewhat confusing, but nonetheless unambiguous statement" made five weeks before the anniversary NATO summit.

He said that for Kyiv, peace means that “Russia will never, never, never, never occupy Ukraine,” for which Ukraine does not need to be a member of NATO.
“This means that we have the same relationship with them as we do with other countries where we supply weapons so that they can protect themselves in the future. I was the one who said that I was not ready to support the NATOization of Ukraine,” Biden said in an interview with Time magazine.
However, a representative of the US mission to NATO, on condition of anonymity, said in one of the comments that Biden previously did not rule out that Ukraine could join the Alliance, but is simply not ready now.
“But no matter what explanations American diplomats give, Biden’s statement is very bad. After all, for Kyiv, recognition of the American president means one thing: under Biden, our country will not only never become a member of NATO, but will not even receive an invitation to join the Alliance. For Putin, this is a signal that no matter what promises the Alliance makes to Ukraine in its documents, the United States seems ready to stipulate in a future agreement to resolve the Russian war with Ukraine that our country will not be in NATO.
Well, champagne can be opened in the Kremlin: Putin received a gift without bargaining that significantly weakens Ukraine’s position in the upcoming negotiations with Russia. Biden has practically confirmed that Russia has the right of veto. In addition, Putin now has something to sell to the domestic Russian consumer: wasn’t Moscow’s concern about NATO’s expansion to the East one of the reasons for launching a “special military operation” against Ukraine?” notes the author of the publication.
Moreover, the publication asks the question: “how reliable is the United States as an ally, since it is ready to abandon its fixed obligations?”
And even NATO’s “carrots”, which they promise Kyiv at the summit, “simply hide the lack of a real prospect for Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance.”
“Therefore, although [US Ambassador] Julianne Smith claims that at the meeting in Washington there will be important changes in the wording regarding the prospects for our country’s membership in NATO and the decision will not be identical to that taken at the Vilnius summit, in fact, the anniversary summit will further alienate Ukraine from membership in the Alliance,” ZN summarizes.
