The protesters also oppose raising the retirement age, laying off workers, and calling for timely payment of wages.

“We are on strike on behalf of our colleagues, people who work in cultural institutions, philharmonic societies, and concert halls. We are on strike because we oppose the adoption of amendments to the Labor Code in the second reading, because they significantly worsen the situation of Ukrainian citizens in all sectors. We are here today to show our disagreement with the Code,” said one of the protesters, Alexander Shevchenko.

Earlier, at a press conference in Kyiv, Volynets said that changes to the Labor Code contain a number of discriminatory norms.
“The draft Labor Code stipulates that your employer will fire you immediately if you disclose a trade secret. Salary is also a trade secret, so if you tell your wife about your salary, you will be fired. The next thing is vaccinations. Regardless of whether your health condition allows you to receive certain vaccinations or whether a vaccine is available, you can be fired immediately without warning,” Volynets said.

As PolitNavigator reported, workers at a Sumy plant owned by oligarch Konstantin Grigorishin rebelled yesterday.
