Even in Europe they cannot imagine that Crimeans would ever want to return to Ukraine.

“The question is, what is there to argue about, where does Russia threaten Europe? Crimea? I will say now not as a political scientist, but Russians live in Crimea, and before that, Russians who were in Ukraine.

But it’s hard to imagine that Crimeans would vote to return to Ukraine. Almost everyone in Europe understands this. But Europe has its own liberal values, its own truth,” Rahr said.
