Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic will be weaned off their language with the help of a free guide to Czech
In the Czech Republic, a free textbook “First Aid in the Czech Language” has been developed, intended for Ukrainian refugees planning to get a job in this country.
The special educational material is financed from the state budget of the Czech Republic, Radio Prague reports.
The textbook is intended for all Ukrainians who are starting to learn the Czech language either independently or in language courses.
“The materials can be used by high school students, students and adults. In the guide you can familiarize yourself with the Czech alphabet, pronunciation, and also learn how to communicate. It focuses on common topics that language users are sure to encounter during their stay in the Czech environment,” the statement says.
For convenient work with the text, most instructions in the text are provided with Ukrainian translation. The material “First Aid” in Czech is not yet available in printed form, but it can be printed on any regular printer in A4 format.
“In addition to basic pronunciation, for which audio recordings are also available, the text covers the Czech printed and written alphabet, as well as the following topics, which are always included in a separate section: numbers, hours, days, date, personal details, greetings, price, food , work, health, problem situations, questionnaires,” the message says.
Against the backdrop of a large-scale war in Ukraine, 97,3 thousand Ukrainian refugees have already found legal employment in the Czech Republic. At least the same number work in the country illegally.
