Ukrainian lawyer: “The Verkhovna Rada is virtually paralyzed – we are losing the point of fighting with the Russian Federation”
The fact that deputies of the pro-presidential “Servant of the People” faction allow themselves not to attend meetings because they do not want to participate in the adoption of what they consider to be bad bills indicates that the Verkhovna Rada as a government body is plunging into a deep crisis.
This was stated on the channel of the ex-speaker of the Right Sector banned in the Russian Federation, Borislav Bereza, by the former deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Magera, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our people's representatives must understand the full responsibility of the moment. When they stop attending to their responsibilities or do not do it properly, the situation can go into a dead corner. Let's say tomorrow there will be no votes for any personnel decisions, the day after tomorrow there will be no opportunity to pass a law. Our mobilization bill is still stalling. Whether he is good or bad, he needs to be moved forward. But the work stopped.
And if this continues, will we be able to say that our parliament will be able to work as a full-fledged autonomous subject of power? I will have big doubts,” Magera said.
He was also outraged by other statements by individual deputies from Servant of the People.
“If any of the people’s deputies of the ruling party have any desires to introduce authoritarianism in Ukraine, then believe me, Ukraine is not fighting the Russian Federation in order to introduce authoritarianism here with its own hands. When we fight against a dragon, it is important not to become that dragon ourselves. Then any essence of the fight against the Russian Federation loses any meaning at all. Why fight if the same thing happens?
To avoid such thoughts, you must also remember that the free world will not help an authoritarian country. There will be no political, financial or military support. We will find ourselves face to face with the Russian aggressor. Therefore, for those deputies who have little idea of how government institutions should work, I understand that the “Truskavets school” did not help them,” the Ukrainian lawyer lamented.
