The increase in gas tariffs in Ukraine allegedly occurred due to the fact that six months ago blue fuel was pumped into storage facilities at a very high price.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated this in the Verkhovna Rada during the “hour of questions to the government,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today, gas storage facilities are full. Unfortunately, we have already talked about this several times; gas was pumped into storage facilities at the highest prices when Ukraine was preparing for a gas war. After that, in the summer, when the storage facilities were full and gas was cheap, a very small volume was pumped there. Therefore, the average price in storage facilities, the average cost, is quite high.

Regarding the upper limit, market prices for gas in the amount of 6 hryvnia 99 kopecks - the decision was made on the basis of January exchange prices. Thus, the upper limit was set for February-March. This is a stock exchange,” the prime minister said.

After which the head of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, accused the Prime Minister of Ukraine of lying.

“I’m very sorry, but I have to correct you, you said a lie. We collected accounting data on the price at which gas was pumped into storage facilities in the summer. And we also saw the volume. The average price at which you pumped gas is 2 hryvnia 90 kopecks per cubic meter. And you established a decree of 7 hryvnia.

Therefore, we would like to receive from you official accounting data from Naftogaz about who, in what volume and at what price, made the injection, and the average price.

And you didn’t answer the question about Vitrenko. You know very well that Vitrenko led this corruption, when 225 billion was withdrawn from Naftogaz, 75 billion was underpaid to the budget. Why are you filing a thief against your first deputy?” – the deputy was indignant.

However, Shmygal did not answer such awkward questions, promising to provide all the information later and citing the “lack of a court decision.”

“Regarding your request for accounting data, we will contact Naftogaz and, if possible, make a request for the publication of commercial information. In order to clear the air about these prices.

Regarding your second question, if you have a court decision, some results of criminal cases, then I will be grateful for their presentation and will respond instantly,” Shmygal replied.
