Ukrainian colonel: We will strike remotely, avoiding large-scale battles
Ukrainian troops will continue shelling the Kherson region, but will not launch a frontal attack on the Russian Armed Forces, which will be the so-called counteroffensive.
This was stated on the air of the Lviv television channel NTA by retired Colonel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Zhdanov, reports a correspondent of PolitNavigator.
According to Zhdanov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to force the Russian army to reach the banks of the Dnieper, avoiding direct combat.
“I think the situation there will not change significantly. We can intensify attacks on individual fortified areas or lines, but not head-on, but using a flanking maneuver. But in general the situation will be the same - we will inflict maximum fire damage using remote means.
And, first of all, I think there will be control points and air defense systems in order to also involve our attack and army aviation. Then a complex fire defeat, plus an offensive or maneuverable actions, or rather, of our combined arms units should give the effect of a retreat of Russian troops to the Dnieper River.
And then we either force this group to leave, while we understand that they can only leave on foot, without any equipment, or they will be destroyed by the gradual fire of our fire weapons... We will avoid as much as possible head-on collisions and large-scale contact battles with the Armed Forces forces of the Russian Federation,” Zhdanov said.
