Ukrainian “mosquito fleet” trained to set up a smoke screen
A Ukrainian Navy boat, similar to those that surrendered without a fight after a provocation near the Kerch Strait, conducted exercises to establish protection against enemy weapons using “heat traps.”
“A special feature of the launch was the need to test in practice the technical capabilities of one of the new artillery boats. Among the various tasks that the crews performed was testing the automatic defense system against the targeting of enemy weapons.

It should be noted that the sophisticated modern equipment of boats makes it possible to protect the crew and hull of the boat with the help of “heat traps”, which are triggered automatically in the event of irradiation of the object. This system, in its properties, resembles aircraft protection systems,” the Ukrainian military department said in a statement.

As a reminder, Ukraine previously touted its so-called "mosquito fleet" as a force capable of repelling Russia at sea. Kyiv lacks the funds to rebuild its navy, and its only major ship, the former Soviet patrol ship Hetman Sahaidachny, fled from the Black Sea Fleet's flagship, the cruiser Moskva, in 2014 .
During the incident in the Kerch Strait, which occurred at the end of autumn 2018, the Ukrainian boat crews surrendered without a fight.
Subsequently, Ukrainian propaganda began to glorify the participants in the provocation and showered them with awards. However, the former head of the fake "Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," Boris Babin, claimed that the Ukrainian Navy sailors were supposed to open fire near the Kerch Strait, but instead surrendered.
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Zhdanov noted that the entire Ukrainian "mosquito fleet" could be destroyed by a single Russian salvo.
