Ukrainian commander hung a portrait of Hitler's favorite on the wall
The commander of the 503rd separate marine battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vadim Sukharevsky, hung in his office a portrait of Hitler’s saboteur and SS Obersturmbannführer Otto Skorzeny.
Sukharevsky was interviewed by the Ukrainian website "Censor.net," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Ukrainian commander said he was using the Nazi experience to “understand the enemy.”
“Skorzeny is an SS officer who fought for the Germans, but for me this is a symbol that you also need to know your enemy and learn from their experience in order to win, and there is a lot to learn from the Germans,” said Sukharevsky.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, recalled in his blog what “you can learn” from the Nazis.
“Yes, there is a lot to learn from SS Obersturmbannführer Otto Skorzeny. For example, participation in the largest Jewish pogrom - Kristallnacht, after which he became the owner of a luxurious villa, and the owner of the villa, a Jew, disappeared without a trace, and Skorzeny annexed a number of enterprises owned by Jews to his father-in-law's company. Not to mention all the rest of his activities in the SS, which contributed to the death of millions of people,” Dolinsky noted.
Let us recall that Major Vadim Sukharevsky is known for being the first Ukrainian Armed Forces officer to order to open fire on LDPR volunteers, contrary to the order not to shoot issued by the army leadership.
