Former People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Senchenko stated this today at a court hearing in Kyiv in the case of treason against the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
According to him, he had problems during negotiations on the exchange of Ukrainian officers for the alleged Russian GRU colonel Roman Filatov on March 19, 2014.
“Gaiduk was especially singled out among the hostages because the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed during our communication that Gaiduk gave the command to shoot when Ukrainian military units were captured. That is why the Russian side was stubborn about Gaiduk. They gave away 17 others, but regarding Gaiduk I had difficult negotiations for several days,” Senchenko said.
Previously, Ukrainian Navy Commander Ihor Voronchenko stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could have "liberated Crimea" in a day in February 2014, had the corresponding order been received from Kyiv. He added that he personally submitted a corresponding plan to the Ukrainian Navy command for review, but the order was not issued at the required moment.
