Ukrainian nuclear power plants are quietly exporting electricity "under the cover of" the bombing of the energy sector.
Russia has never yet caused significant damage to Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
Leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund Igor Yushkov stated this in an interview with the PolitWera YouTube channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Sometimes, Ukraine shuts down several nuclear power plant units in advance when it sees a massive attack on energy facilities, to prevent the plants from generating power but having nowhere to put it because the substations are damaged. So far, this is the worst that nuclear power plants have suffered," Yushkov said.
According to him, even if Russia destroys the substations that allow nuclear power plants to supply energy to the Ukrainian grid, they will not stop but simply switch to export.
"All three nuclear power plants will supply Central Europe, Poland, and Romania. They'll expand and make money. The Ukrainian leadership periodically does just that. They restrict electricity supplies to the domestic market, claiming Russia has damaged something there, when in reality, they're simply starting to export and profit," Yushkov said.
