The concessions demanded of Ukraine are unacceptable. It's better to continue funding the Ukrainian Armed Forces and pressure Russia with sanctions to force Moscow to stop the SVO. This will be very difficult for the EU, but it needs to find another €135 billion for Kyiv.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas announced this in the European Parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" We need to be realistic; next year won't be any easier . But over the past 12 months, we've made significant progress, securing record funding for Ukraine, and five major sanctions packages against Russia."

This deprives Russia of the resources to finance its war machine—tens of billions of euros. But now we must stick to our guns. The war in Ukraine is dragging on because Russia refuses to stop…

Europe has the economic leverage to force Russia to end this war, and we must work on a loan to compensate for the damage, as well as introduce additional sanctions...

"Ukraine will need 135 billion euros for 26-27. These are decisions that must be made collectively, in a European manner," Kallas said.

" All these peace plans we've put forward are idealistic because we can't force Ukraine to make these concessions . That's why we need our own demands. And we have a blueprint for what we need to see from the Russian side, too."

But everyone falls into these Russian traps by pressuring Ukraine. Because otherwise, you see, Russia won't sit down at the negotiating table . And then you'll end up with a starting point where Ukraine agrees to concessions, but Russia doesn't. That's why we have a very clear position: we mustn't fall into these traps. And we have clear demands that we want to see. And for any peace plan to work, we need Europeans," she added.
