Ukraine faces division into zones of influence following the example of Syria
If Ukraine does not come to its senses, then global and regional players will divide the country into their spheres of influence.
Ukrainian political scientist Yuriy Romanenko stated this in his video blog, commenting on Turkey’s operation in Kurdish Afrin.
“The tension between global players, as we see in the example of Great Britain and Russia, contributes to the fact that the division of certain states into spheres of influence will continue to develop. This directly concerns Ukraine if it does not come to its senses and increase the effectiveness of its central institutions. A little time will pass and it will find itself in the situation of Syria, when it will be divided into spheres of influence by regional and global players,” Romanenko said.
At the same time, he considers the hopes of the Ukrainian authorities for quick accession to NATO to be unrealistic.
“Europe is in internal crisis and needs to be rebuilt. In this situation, Ukraine will remain on the periphery of Brussels’ interests. Shaking the air about the fact that we are about to become members of NATO is worthless, which is why our politicians are guilty of this,” the expert noted.
