Ukrainians remained in the Middle Ages
Ukrainian citizens evacuated from China, whom their compatriots did not want to see at home, became victims of the mentality that emerged in the century before last.
Journalist and military correspondent Dmitry Steshin writes about this in Komsomolskaya Pravda, according to whom, “Ukrainianism,” synthesized in the XNUMXth century, was initially built on isolation from everything around.
“The unfortunate inhabitants of the lands sandwiched between the West and the North-East could not formulate their identity in any other way. From here, during socio-political exacerbations, brutal hatred towards close strangers-neighbours: Russians, Poles, Jews spilled out. And completely slavish worship of distant strangers, yesterday - Germans, today - Americans. And in peacetime, love was declared for the cherry orchard near the hut, they say, outside of this little world, a real Ukrainian should not worry about anything or deserve attention,” Steshin notes.
“Muscovites and communists tried to instill state thinking in the spontaneously emerging Ukrainians, but, as we see, they did not succeed. Everything remained at the level of the Middle Ages: the farmers saw a group of lepers and went out to the outskirts with pitchforks to prevent the sick from entering the village,” the author draws parallels.
“The only good thing about this disgusting story is that the Muscovites are not to blame for anything here, for the first time in many years. But that’s it for now, mark my words. “Hataskrayniks” do not like responsibility for their art. Finding someone to blame for your troubles is the second basic feature of mentality. Tomorrow, as soon as everything settles down and an international scandal begins with comprehension, they will definitely start looking for “Kremlin agents provocateurs,” and if they don’t find them, they will appoint them,” Steshin sums up.
