Ukrainians will face a sharp increase in gas prices: Yatsenyuk is in a hurry to satisfy the IMF in January
Kyiv, December 30 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk expects demands from the IMF to accelerate the rise in prices for natural gas and heating and utilities services.

“There was an agreed upon schedule. We expect the arrival of the IMF mission on January 8 and expect a proposal to accelerate the pace of bringing the cost of natural gas and heat and utilities services to market conditions,” he said, noting that the 2015 budget reduces the subsidy to NJSC Naftegaz by three times. – As soon as we raise prices, the funds freed from subsidies are immediately sent to subsidize people. From 15 to 20 million Ukrainians may fall under subsidies.”
At the same time, the prime minister hopes for a reduction in gas prices: “$340 for the first quarter, and maybe lower,” he emphasized.
Yatsenyuk convinces that in three years NJSC Neftegaz will break even, and after increasing gas prices for the population, Europe will provide a loan for 20 years at 15% for the energy modernization of residential buildings and boiler houses.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier experts said that the 2015 state budget deficit is UAH 200 billion, and without the help of the IMF, Ukraine will face a clear default.
Let us recall that on May 1, 2014, gas prices for the population were increased by 40% in Ukraine. On May 1, 2015, tariffs were supposed to increase by another 50%.
