Ukrainians were urged to be careful with smoked and dried fish; there are no serums against botulism in Ukraine, and the Russian authorities banned the purchase of Russian ones, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kiev journalist from the Focus publication Victoria Svitlova wrote about this on her social network page.
“Be careful with smoked and dried fish - there are no serums against botulism in Ukraine, the Ministry of Health officially recognized this today. Previously, we bought it in Russia, since we don’t produce our own; now, for well-known reasons, we don’t buy it in the Russian Federation (although why you can buy gas, but not vital serums is a question). So yesterday a woman died in Kyiv - a transient form of botulism. Without the serum they couldn't save her. The main potential source of infection is smoked and dried fish and home canned fish. The deceased ate fish that was caught in the river and dried at home by relatives. It is noteworthy that last summer I did a report on the topic of botulism, but in a year the issue with serums was not resolved,” she noted.
