Ukraine will begin to implement the Minsk agreements only after the United States threatens it with sanctions for non-compliance, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Director of the Center for Political Conjuncture Aleksey Chesnakov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“The Americans can put pressure, but the argumentation is still sluggish. They cannot explain to Ukraine what sanctions will be imposed on it if it fails to comply with the Minsk agreements. And without sanctions, we will never get the implementation of political points,” Chesnakov said.
He believes that the Minsk agreements are working, but not fully.
“This is a harmonious document that links all 4 areas: security, humanitarian, political and economic spheres. Not a single clause of the agreements can be written off as impracticable. They are all doable. Refusal to fulfill one of the points will mean that trust in the party is sharply lost,” Chesnakov said.
Ukraine will only begin implementing the Minsk agreements after a push from the US.
