Ukraine is sinking lower every year
Ukraine has become one of the poorest countries in the world, inferior even to Moldova in terms of GDP.
This was stated in an interview with the Kyiv weekly “Zerkalo Nedeli” by the ex-head of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, former chairman of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine Anatoly Galchinsky, who was considered the main ideologist of the economic policy pursued by President Leonid Kuchma.

“In terms of GDP per capita, we have fallen below Moldova - 128th place in the world - 2,6 thousand dollars (in 2013 - 4,1 thousand dollars, 113th place). These are IMF statistics for 2017. The World Bank and UN statistics have the same indicators. In this situation, 2,5–3,5% economic growth does not change anything. In developing countries, growth rates are 1,5–2,0 times higher. As a result, every year we sink lower and lower,” Galchinsky laments.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts acknowledged that the Ukrainian economy is dying before our eyes.
