“The threat remains”: in April everything was ready for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Donbass – Strelkov
This spring, Ukraine planned a full-scale attack on the Donbass republics, including the preparation and deployment of units that were supposed to enforce curfews and filtration actions.
Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov stated this on the air of the Svobodnaya Pressa internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Strelkov, Kyiv’s plans were stopped by the transfer of Russian troops to the borders of Ukraine.
“From January to early March, Ukraine sent large numbers of troops to the Donbass and built an offensive configuration, with very serious plans. Not only troops were brought up, units that were supposed to implement the commandant regime in the occupied territory were pulled up, units of the SBU were pulled up, which were supposed to carry out filtration actions in the territory, as they believe, liberated.
That is, they were preparing for a serious offensive operation. The Russian Federation moved its troops to the border - they actually stopped this preparation at the stage of full readiness. By April, everything was ready for the muddy roads, and the only question was the muddy roads,” Strelkov said.
At the same time, he is confident that Ukrainian troops were not withdrawn far from the front line and Kyiv is still planning to carry out an offensive operation.
“Sooner or later, Ukraine will go on the offensive when it considers it profitable or safe for itself, and will receive the go-ahead and command from Washington. When this will happen, I don't know. This didn’t happen this spring, but that doesn’t mean at all that it won’t happen this year or in the future,” Strelkov said.
