The funeral of ex-president Leonid Kravchuk took place in Kyiv today.

“The funeral is sad... There are more journalists than mourners. The mourners are exclusively Fuhrers from the ruling clique. Shirnarmassam... to the lamp,” comments former Kiev TV reporter Maxim Ravreba.

He noted that the Ukrainian media, covering the “rather wretched ceremony,” kept silent about the fact that the deceased chose to be in Munich during the military conflict, and the farewell ceremony for Kravchuk took place in the former Vladimir Lenin Museum (now the Ukrainian House).

In addition, Kravchuk, who repainted himself as a champion of independence during the Soviet era, managed to receive “occupation” awards as a high-ranking functionary of the Communist Party.

“The funeral organizers decided not to show Soviet awards. But in vain. The late holder of the Order of the October Revolution and two Red Banners of Labor,” recalls Ravreba.
