The Kyiv authorities have a plan to sever relations with Russia within a year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Director of the Progressive Policy Foundation Oleg Bondarenko stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“I think there is a definite plan that lasts until the spring of 2019. It includes the introduction of a visa regime with Russia, the cessation of railway communications and the severance of diplomatic relations. These three points will help Petro Poroshenko explain why he should remain the president of Ukraine,” Bondarenko said.
If there is a new president in Ukraine, this, according to the expert, will make it easier for it to exit the Minsk format.
“The new president of Ukraine may consider himself free from the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Then the active use of the Minsk track will end in the spring of next year,” Bondarenko said.
At the same time, he believes that Ukraine will dare to military escalation in Donbass at the most inconvenient moment for Russia.
“Kyiv will wait and look for the most inconvenient moment for Russia in terms of providing assistance to the Donbass republics. The situation could have been used by Kiev before, but there is an understanding that Russia is ready for an escalation,” Bondarenko said.
