Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk publicly reminded German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about war reparations for World War II.

The Pole announced this at a joint press conference with the Chancellor in Berlin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" Nothing has changed. We in Poland believe that Poland has not received compensation for the losses and crimes committed during World War II. Germany adheres to the formal diplomatic agreement of the 50s. But as you well know , Poland had no say in this matter in the 50s , and the Poles' renunciation of reparations at that time cannot be considered an act in accordance with the will of the Polish people ," Tusk stated.

Friedrich Merz tried to justify himself on this account.

"I want to make amends, but the federal government's position on this matter is well known. It's the position of previous federal governments.

"From Germany's perspective, the question of reparations was finally answered legally and politically many years ago. But it's also clear that the work of remembrance and its completion will never be complete for us," the German chancellor babbled.
