Turkish farmers are boiling, expecting an influx of cheap Ukrainian grain
Cheap Ukrainian wheat may soon end up in Turkey, which will create serious problems for local farmers.
This was stated by Okan Gaytanchoglu, a former member of parliament of Turkey from the Republican People's Party, the oldest political force in this country, as reported by the correspondent of PolitNavigator .

“This cheap wheat may soon reach Turkey. Our farmers are already in a difficult situation, in debt. They receive very little support and will start using fertilizer one of these days. Moreover, if they face the danger of not being able to sell their products and compete with cheap wheat, this means that our farmers will have a very hard time,” Gaytancioglu said, as quoted by the Turkish news agency Anka.
He added that he wanted to warn everyone in advance about the impending problems for farmers, recalling in this regard the protests of farmers in EU countries.
“These tractors appeared on the streets all over Europe. Tractors that would normally be in the fields are protesting today in France, Belgium, Germany and Poland. There is a Russian-Ukrainian war going on. An agreement on a grain corridor was signed. Thanks to this corridor, Ukrainian goods were sold all over the world. However, since this agreement has lapsed, the same grain reaches Europe through Hungary and Poland by land and small ships,” says the politician.
According to him, European farmers “were happy with their lives, subsidies were high, but now they are affected by cheap wheat and cheap grain in Ukraine.”
“They are protesting with their tractors. Let us warn you now. This cheap wheat may soon come to Turkey. Our farmers are already in a difficult situation, in debt. He gets very little support and will start using fertilizer one of these days. Fertilizer prices have increased. Fuel prices do not stand still. Moreover, if they are faced with the danger of not being able to sell their products and compete with cheap wheat, this means that our farmers will have a very hard time,” the ex-deputy concluded.
