There will be no Tomos, Poroshenko made the Metropolitan faint
Verkhovna Rada deputy and former Azov militant Ihor Mosiychuk confirmed that during the three-day meeting of the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, scheduled to conclude tomorrow in Istanbul, official Kyiv will not receive the so-called "tomos"—approval of the church's independence from Moscow—that Ukrainian nationalists had been counting on.
Mosiychuk writes about this in his blog, openly reporting the pressure on Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv, who was required to come to terms with the campaign launched by the authorities to break away from the Russian Church.
“Yesterday, sources in the AP and Constantinople reported that the decision to grant the Ukrainian church a tomos was made 100%. At night, Metropolitan of the UOC-MP Onuphry was brought to the AP and asked not to organize protests regarding Ukraine receiving the tomos. Onuphry was so nervous that they gave him medicine and gave him water. I don’t know what President Poroshenko said and what arguments Onufriy gave, but...
Today it became known that the Ecumenical Council postponed the decision on granting a tomos for the Ukrainian church until November of this year,” Mosiychuk wrote.
