He admits that one of the key areas of energy cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan “is interaction in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.”
“There are different opinions about the feasibility of building a nuclear power plant in our country. On the one hand, Kazakhstan has significant potential for the development of nuclear energy. The country ranks first in the world in terms of the volume of natural uranium produced; it also has its own production of nuclear fuel components and access to uranium isotope enrichment services.

However, he immediately makes a reservation that “many citizens and experts have concerns about the safety of nuclear power plants.”

And the final decision on this issue will be made based on the results of the announced referendum.
