Sevastopol, May 16 (Navigator, Sergey Rulev) – The Sevastopol prosecutor’s office is initiating a criminal case into illegal logging in the Laspi area, the press service of the supervisory agency reports.

An audit carried out by the prosecutor's office of the city of Sevastopol established that employees of Stroyalyans LLC in the area of the Laspi tract, without legal grounds, cut down 107 deciduous trees and damaged 2 tall juniper trees, listed in the Red Book, to the point of stopping their growth.
According to the conclusions of specialists from the Novorossiysk forestry - a branch of the State Treasury Institution of the Krasnodar Territory "Forest Committee" - the damage caused to forest resources due to logging amounted to 1,3 million rubles.
The inspection materials were sent to the Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol to initiate a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal logging, damage to the point of stopping the growth of forest plantations, committed on an especially large scale).
The change of power has opened the eyes of Sevastopol prosecutors to the deforestation in Laspi.
