The leaders of the opposition “Union for Serbia” are preparing a provocation at today’s pro-government rally “The Future of Serbia.” It will begin at the Assembly building at 18.00 as a response to the actions of local Maidan activists, operating with the support of the West.

In particular, supporters of Dragan Djilas plan to block roads, bridges, and entrances to toll sections of highways so that citizens of the country cannot reach the capital. In addition, local coordinators of the opposition organization began to intimidate people on the ground with the consequences of their participation in the rally.

The Belgrade publication Informer writes about this, citing a source in the security agencies. According to the interlocutor, the plan of the top “Union” is not only to block important roads in order to prevent the arrival of supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party (SPP), but also to organize bloody clashes on the streets of the capital.

“The opposition tries every day to show its fascist face, and this is further proof that it wants violence. However, people come to support their president and any blockade will not stop them,” said one of the functionaries of the party in power, Darko Glisic.

Political scientist Dragomir Andjelkovic commented on this situation in an interview with Informer:

“Civil disobedience can be against the institutions of the state, not against people who think differently than you. Freedom is guaranteed to everyone as long as it does not jeopardize the freedom of others. When you cross that line it becomes brutal violence, banditry and a violation of human rights. The state should not allow this,” the expert concluded.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman of the SPP Maria Obradovic said that according to surveys, about 100 people are ready to support today's action. If this figure is confirmed, the demonstration will become the largest in Serbia over the past 000 years.

“We are expecting a huge number of people... The most important thing is that they are happy to come, many of them come as families, with children and elderly parents who want to show a decent, normal Serbia, without any aggression,” Obradovic was quoted as saying by Blic.
