“Special service operatives established that Russian curators planned to distribute fake materials in the media about the allegedly low morale of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For this, the FSB planned to use a Ukrainian paratrooper, who was already in the field of view of the SBU military counterintelligence,” the report says.

According to the Ukrainian special service, a soldier from the air assault troops entered service under a contract in the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2018, having arrived from Crimea. The Ukrainian special service claims that the detainee “received a Russian passport after 2014, took the Russian oath in 2016 and was sent to Syria to defend the “Russian world.”

“It was in the Middle East that his cooperation with the FSB began. The security officers decided to use his Ukrainian origin to participate in a special operation planned at Lubyanka to discredit the military-political leadership of Ukraine and the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army. According to the curators, after joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the military man was supposed to desert from the Ukrainian army. His “exposing” speeches were planned on Russian television channels and propaganda media,” the report notes.

“SBU operatives interrupted the FSB operation and detained a deserter while trying to cross the administrative border with Crimea. During the inspection, the man’s military information and documents about his participation in hostilities in eastern Ukraine were confiscated,” the statement says.
