There's no point in negotiating with the West: the Russian opposition doesn't represent anyone there – Latynina
The Russian elite rallied around the president because they realized that they had no one to negotiate with in Europe, and that in the event of defeat, all their assets and capital would be “zeroed.”
This was stated by Yulia Latynina, a foreign agent and liberal journalist who left Russia, on the anti-Russian video blog "Living Nail," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Latynina, the so-called Russian opposition, which is fed by Western money, merely consumes resources but has absolutely no influence on either the Russian people themselves or the elite.
" Over the past four years, the Russian ruling elite has developed a very clear idea of what it's up against . And it's literally up against people who say, 'Look, Putin's doing this badly, that badly, and this badly.'"
"But they (the elite, – author) understand that if Russia loses, they will simply be reduced to nothing, with all their wealth, all their connections, all their money, all their status. Moreover, they understand that there is no entity in Europe with which they can negotiate …" she noted.
"The Russian elite, which has always been pro-European, would theoretically be willing to reach an agreement with European officials—at least some of it. But they see that, firstly, there's no negotiating partner on the other side.
Besides, the Russian elite has nothing to discuss with the Russian opposition , which, in fact, finds itself in the same position as those who have already been duped. They were forced, or rather, hinted, that it would be a good idea for them to choose all these stories themselves, like the one they signed at PACE.
And then, she happily signed, and it turned out that these people represent no one. These people don't even express the opinion of Europe. These people are simply nobodies ," Latynina declared.
