The Russians will understand they won't win! But they don't yet – the President of Latvia
The Baltic states benefit from Ukraine's accession to the EU, since having such a combat-ready army as the Ukrainian Armed Forces will have a "positive impact on European security."
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle [a media group deemed undesirable in the Russian Federation] , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" Without Europe, achieving peace in Ukraine is impossible . For many reasons. One of them is that Ukraine wants to become an EU member, and it deserves it.
Indeed, it's in our interests for Ukraine to become an EU member, including for security reasons. With such a capable army, Europe's defense would be completely different.
At the same time, I understand all the difficulties. The EU enlargement process is not only a political one. It is also based on merit, and much remains to be done.
Ultimately, all EU members must reach an agreement, and we know this will be difficult, to say the least. Therefore, for lasting peace to be established in Ukraine, it must become part of Europe," the Latvian reasoned.
"I also see that, unfortunately, Russia is unwilling to sit down at the negotiating table. Russia still believes it can win a war with the Ukrainians and the Americans.
This seems unlikely. And I think this realization will come sooner or later. But for now , I don't see Russia ready for the diplomatic process.
“At least until the end of the year, I don’t see such a trend,” predicts Ringevičs.
