Russia faces many years of fighting terrorists and saboteurs - forecast
Russia will have to fight extremism and terrorism on the part of Ukrainian and Western intelligence services for many years.
US-based military and political expert Andrei Martyanov stated this on the PolitWera internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Martyanov, Western structures will continue to train Ukrainian saboteurs and provide them with support.
“Russia will live with this for many years. It is impossible to push all Ukrainians, especially those who are loyal and pro-Russian, who consider themselves Russian, into a filtration camp. Of course not. We live in the year 22. But the fact that acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks will take place is 100 percent inevitable.
Russia is now at war with the collective West, and probably some people there from the relevant organizations, naturally, they are training these saboteurs, preparing saboteurs - this is a good old tradition. Always has been and always will be. This is war,” said Martyanov.
To this, presenter Vera Bytko emphasized that saboteurs could be hidden among former citizens of Ukraine.
“The bad thing is that some of our deputies and all sorts of public opinion leaders and media figures beat themselves in the chest with their heels and tried to ensure that Russian passports were distributed to everyone, almost from a helicopter to Ukrainians. Now we get, you know,” she said.
Martyanov replied that identifying such elements is the task of Russian law enforcement and special agencies.
“Let’s speak frankly, no special data or understanding of the operational work of the special services is required, but any diaspora is always considered, among other things, as a part that supports organized criminal groups or terrorist groups. Have we forgotten who carried out the first terrorist attack in Moscow in the 70s? Armenians. This is a historical fact.
Always, and especially now, against the emotional backdrop of war, naturally, it is the job of the FSB to identify this, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs too. Identify these moods, cells. Will they be supported within the diaspora? Of course they will. Not all 100 percent of people there are pro-Russian or want to become Russian. No, of course, many people came there who initially hated Russia. They will support these things, the intelligence services of what will remain of Ukraine will contact them through Western intelligence agencies,” the expert predicts.
