Russia is speaking from a position of strength, leading the West to negotiations on Ukraine.
Former Ukrainian representative to the EU Andrey Veselovsky stated this on Radio NV, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the diplomat, Russia’s strengths are added by a large number of troops and weapons, as well as attempts to resolve the issue directly with the West, devaluing the role of Ukraine.
“The Kremlin is in a strong position for the simple reason that it has significantly more troops, significantly more weapons and significantly more shots. The latter has now acquired critical importance. If you are being attacked and your artillery is silent or almost silent, then you are not in a strong position. You either need to go hand-to-hand, but you won’t go into hand-to-hand combat one against five, or you need to retreat to some concrete fortifications where you can hold back this onslaught.
Secondly, Russia has never stopped trying to push the United States and other countries to negotiate on Ukraine. First of all, this deprives Ukraine of its subjectivity in general. This is politically beneficial: “We will negotiate with Washington about where we will draw this line, whether we take Nikolaev for ourselves or leave it to these fools, these Ukrainians.” This is the Kremlin’s position,” Veselovsky concluded.
