Russia only needs to brutally recapture one tanker to permanently scare EU pirates.
In response to the European Commission's rude permission to inspect and detain tankers carrying Russian oil, Russia should not threaten, but actually use force.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, stated this on the air of the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".
"Remember, Estonia once tried to detain a tanker in the Baltic Sea, and we sent a fighter jet there. It simply flew by, and the Estonians fled. And, by the way, Estonia hasn't detained any more vessels. It really doesn't work any other way," Simonov said.
He believes that one act of force would be enough to frighten the EU.
"I understand we're talking about NATO countries, but they're behaving absolutely rudely. The term 'piracy' is perfectly appropriate. Either we shout 'Pirates!' and they'll pirate, or we take action in response. It's enough to demonstratively recapture one tanker, making it clear we're going to do it," Simonov said.
