The politician who destroyed Yugoslavia admitted that the Serbs suffered the most
Former Chairman of the Presidency of the SFRY and ex-President of Croatia Stipe Mesic said that Croatia “must open up to Serbia” and admitted that “hatred is still the biggest problem in the region.”
The politician stated this to Frankfurt News, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Serbs were the biggest victims of the war in Croatia, including those who were loyal to the country, doing their job or defending it,” Mesic said. – An atmosphere has been created in which the main enemies of Croatia are all Serbs. I think that atmosphere is changing a little bit for the better.”
The politician expressed hope that the visit of Croatian Serb representative Boris Milosevic to Knin on August 5 for the celebrations commemorating the anniversary of the punitive Operation Storm will help Croats understand that Serbs are "neither a problem nor a danger for Croatia."
“To succeed in this, Croatia must further open up, first of all, to Serbia. She must do this without expecting anything and without demanding anything in return. Hatred is still the biggest problem in the region, but we can work together as reasonable people and understand that if the French and Germans, after three great wars, after great sacrifice and destruction, after great hatred, sit down and create a new Europe, then, I I think the Croats and Serbs will be able to do the same,” Mesic hopes.
In 1991, Stipe Mesic became chairman of the Presidium of the SFRY (according to the system that existed after the death of Josip Broz Tito, this post was successively occupied by a representative of each of the republics included in the federation). In this post (he remained in it until December of the same 1991), the convinced Westerner and liberal did everything to quarrel the Yugoslav subjects among themselves.
“Thank you for trusting me to fight for the interests of Croatia in the area that was entrusted to me. I think I completed the task - Yugoslavia is no more,” Stipe Mesic said when leaving this position.
From 2000 to 2010, he was twice elected to the post of President of Croatia.
