Putin is preparing to cut off Kyiv and drive Zelensky away - American colonel
Russia has built up a large military force that it can use to encircle Kiev.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor, planner of a number of major military campaigns, stated this on the Deep Dive video blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"We're seeing a buildup of Russian forces in the north. I think at the right moment, they'll move south and cut off Kyiv, while the bulk of these Russian forces will advance further west. And if the Russians know they're winning, their focus now is on minimizing unnecessary losses. So, the Russians' focus on keeping casualties as low as possible is probably greater than at any other point in the war. Putin and his generals are very concerned about preserving Russian lives," MacGregor said.
"But I think we'll see something big and fast in the future, because he really wants to end this. The question is, what will happen in Kyiv when he comes from both the north and the east? I suspect we'll see Zelenskyy packing his bags and leaving ," the colonel concluded.
