Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, announced this on the NEWSONE television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Talks about a second term are meaningless. Even if he somehow gets out of it, there is no chance of holding on to a second term. He still has a chance to serve his first term, but these chances are related to his willingness to abandon the course he has pursued so far and abandon those people who are actually pushing him to the abyss.
First of all, the security situation in the country is only getting worse. Yesterday, two activists of Sharia's party were actually killed. And I have not heard any statement from the President about this. He just has a moral obligation. It is obvious that this is an attempt to assassinate a political activist.
He talked many times about the activist Hanzyuk, someone being detained and all that. And here is an absolutely clear story. A political activist, he was threatened and almost killed. He is in intensive care, I don’t know whether he will survive or not, there are terrible photos on the Internet. It is clear that the president is simply obliged...
And this is not the only case, everything is only increasing. You have full responsibility for the security situation here. In fact, the security forces are subordinate to you, you can give instructions, and you can make requests to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and so on. But I didn't hear anything. This is turning into a very dangerous story when political activists are simply afraid to go out into the street, and we will turn into what, I don’t know,” said the political scientist.
