“It’s too late to save the lives of soldiers” – General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the surrender of territories
The question is not whether or not to surrender settlements in order to save the lives of personnel who will soon be gone, but about properly constructed defense and provision of shells and manpower, which the Ukrainian leadership is doing poorly.
The former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the NewsRoom channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

A leading propagandist asked whether it was possible to give up certain populated areas in order to save the lives of military personnel.
“Yes, the question is no longer about saving lives, the question is that at certain moments there is nothing to save. Those losses that the units suffered in the absence of normal support from the state, the necessary amount of ammunition, military trained resources, the necessary amount of equipment, then human heroism will still fail. In the understanding that if for every 10 Ukrainians there are three hundred Katsaps, and they only fight with small arms, then over time this could still technically work in favor of the Muscovites.
Therefore, the question is not in populated areas - to surrender or not to surrender, the question is a properly constructed defense, timely detection of the enemy, destruction of the enemy on the far approaches to the front line, then this will be much more effective. And if you just fight neck and neck, then there won’t be much benefit,” Krivonos answered evasively.
He complained about the inability of the Ukrainian authorities to satisfy the “wild hunger for shells” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"That's why the Avdiivka issue is quite interesting. We have more threatening areas, including Kupyansk and Maryinka ( completely liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces yesterday – ed.), and it's not a question of which is more important or less important. The question is the ability to hold these areas and, most importantly, the state's ability to provide the units stationed there with the necessary ammunition. And we're experiencing a severe shortage of ammunition. Therefore, if the blanket is too short, either your feet are hanging out or your head is freezing," the general complained.
