Ukrainian troops are suffering heavy losses on the Luhansk section of the contact line. And not only from the actions of the Russian military - the Ukrainian Armed Forces barrage detachments shoot those who leave the first line or are about to surrender.
Military expert and retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko announced this on the NTS television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You and I have repeatedly heard this expression: “we will fight until the last Ukrainian.” Now, in principle, this task is being carried out in full, the enemy is suffering catastrophic losses; over the past week, 2,8 thousand Ukrainian fighters, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, are in our area of responsibility alone. We do not take the South Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporozhye directions, and there are also losses there.
That is, to summarize, approximately up to 4 thousand militants die every week. These are huge numbers,” Marochko emphasized.
According to him, even these figures are somewhat underestimated, since the Armed Forces have their own bureaucracy, and only verified data is recorded. Therefore, they can be multiplied by two or even three times.
“As practice shows, since 2014 I have become well convinced that the losses that we consider are not entirely true. Because, I will repeat again, there are some nuances. Well, the fact that Ukrainian militants are being thrown into a meat grinder, no one wants to die, be it a nationalist or a radical, it doesn’t matter. All the same, there must be at least some sense of self-preservation, and it is present among Ukrainian militants.
But there the system itself is built in such a way that everything depends on the Ukrainian command, and attempts to fail to comply with commanders’ orders and other issues are very harshly suppressed. That is, if you don’t go into battle, then your own people will finish you off faster. And they have no choice. That’s why there are such fierce battles, because they know that they are between a rock and a hard place - they are shooting from one side, and aiming at the back from behind.”
Marochko added that there are not isolated cases of shooting of groups of Ukrainian militants who abandoned their positions. And they don’t skimp on ammunition here.
“We have repeatedly recorded similar cases in our area of responsibility and in the Krasno-Limansky direction, when Ukrainian militants abandoned their positions, tried to cross the river and the barrier detachment simply began to shoot them. They were forced to return back,” Marochko clarified.
– There was also an attempt to evacuate in the Kremen forests area, and the group also tried to surrender somewhere before the separation. But when our military personnel conveyed information to the command, ceased fire and began preparatory measures for the evacuation of these military personnel, they were simply covered with mortars. So this information from the Ministry of Defense only confirms the statistics and clearly illustrates the attitude of the Ukrainian command towards its military personnel.”
