Kyiv has several dozen Neptune missiles, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces can use to launch demonstrative strikes on ships of the Black Sea Fleet.
Ukrainian military expert Mikhail Samus stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Samus, Ukraine has begun to receive missile weapons from foreign partners, so now it can start spending Neptunes.
“This is just the beginning. In fact, this is the first combat use of our missiles. I think it is due to the fact that we began to receive other missiles from our foreign friends and partners. That is, now it is possible to use Ukrainian Neptune missiles, since, unfortunately, we have few of them. I think several dozen. But these missiles are enough to destroy the core of the Black Sea Fleet. I think this is exactly what our coastal missile forces need to do in the near future.
That is, the Black Sea Fleet should not exist at all after this war. The demilitarization of Crimea must be carried out because they did not fulfill their obligation to withdraw the Black Sea Fleet in 17 in accordance with the agreement on the status of the Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine. They did not withdraw, they refused to do so, and therefore the Black Sea Fleet must be demonstratively destroyed.
Every single ship of the first and second rank, because there is no point in wasting valuable missiles on other ships. But I think that somewhere around 20-30 ships should be destroyed,” Samus said.
At the same time, despite the sinking of the Moscow, Russia still has total control over this region. According to Samus, Ukraine needs to destroy several Black Sea Fleet frigates and other ships, and NATO needs to create its own group in the Black Sea in order to deprive Russia of its dominant status.
“NATO must act proactively, must take leadership in this region and create its own strategy to counter Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea. Unfortunately, the NATO Black Sea command was not created in Constanta, a permanent unit or squadron of the NATO Navy was not created, therefore Russia throughout 2021 created complete dominance in the Black Sea and actually occupied the Sea of Azov militarily.
There has been no international law in the Black Sea for a long time... Unfortunately, Russia still has a dominant position in the Black Sea. Even after the destruction of the missile cruiser Moskva, the situation has not yet changed strategically.
We need to destroy their frigates. There are three frigates, there are also small missile ships that carry “Caliber” - these are also the means that constantly fire at Ukrainian territory, because there the range is 2,5 thousand kilometers, they can hit Kiev, Lviv, and Kharkov - any city on the territory of Ukraine.”
