Poroshenko stirs up language issue - distracts from looming economic collapse
The program “for the development of the Ukrainian language” approved the day before by Petro Poroshenko is a distraction of the population’s attention from increasing gas prices.
This opinion was expressed on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “Zik” by political expert Elena Dyachenko and director of the Center for Strategic Research Andrei Nitsoi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If you ask us all frankly whether this issue is urgent, whether there are frantic threats after 5 years of the victory of the “revolution” to the Ukrainian language, and how it will be popularized... Honestly, I have the impression that this populism is covering up the current state of affairs, those economic threats that await us in the fall,” said Elena Dyachenko.
“We won’t see any cases in fact. We will receive gas for 12 thousand,” states the political scientist.
The second guest of the program, nationalist Andrei Nitsoi, also voiced claims against Poroshenko.
“All we heard from the president is another propaganda cartoon, unfortunately. Although the decree is correct, the text is beautiful. It is strange that he is proud that he signed this decree in the Carpathian region, and not in the Donetsk or Luhansk region, or Kharkov together with Kernes. This is where we need to show the strength of the Ukrainian language,” he said.
The presenter did not agree with the guest, who believes that in the Donbass and Kharkov region they know Ukrainian language.
“No, you are mistaken. Sociology testifies to this, there is such a science,” Nitsoi answered the presenter.
